The driver/guide will be prepared to take you to the Parc Nationale des Volcans headquarters for the unforgettable gorilla tracking adventure on this particular day after you have had a very early breakfast. In Rwanda, tracking is a really fulfilling activity, particularly when paired with a trip to the Dian Fossey cave. In a nutshell, Dian Fossey was an American naturalist who dedicated her life to the protection and acculturation of gorillas in Rwanda. She is well-known for her efforts to accustom gorillas to their surroundings (you may wish to watch the film “Gorillas in the Mist”).
She was buried next to “Digit,” her gorilla pal who died in 1977, in a cave after being brutally slain by gorilla poachers in Rwanda’s Volcano Mountains. One of the highlights of a trip to Rwanda will most likely be a visit to this cave. You will begin your gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the Virunga slopes after receiving a briefing from the park’s ranger guides. Bring a packed lunch. It may take one to eight hours or less to hike and track gorillas, depending primarily on your physical capabilities and endurance.
